Christina Evans is an Australian born actress, dancer and performance-maker whose work spans film, physical theatre, dance and burlesque. Always interested in the big issues facing humanity, her creative inspiration includes Pina Bausch, Butoh, performance art, psychology and nature.
A career highlight was receiving an Australian Antarctic Arts Fellowship, enabling Christina to journey to Antarctica to undertake creative research on Antarctic ice and climate change. From this awe-inspired experience Christina created dance works Polarity and Body of Ice presented across Australia and in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Christinas previous self-directed performance work is threaded with issues of our time. Her solo Toys explored child sex trafficking, whilst Made In Australia revealed local sweatshop issues.
Christina performed several works with Tony Yap Company, exploring a dance language informed by Butoh. An unforgettable experience was dancing Eulogy for the Living amongst 800 year old church ruins at the Melaka Art and Performance Festival in Malaysia.
As a versatile actress Christina has starred in several short films, commercials and stage productions. She has worked with Tropfest winning directors Alethea Jones and Nicholas Clifford and since arriving in LA she has wrapped on feature film You Will Kill and short The Impossible.
Starring in music videos of well known Australian bands Graveyard Train, The Brook Chivell Band and The Bedroom Philosopher, Christina can also be seen dancing with chocolate mousse and lollypops in Australia's #1 documentary That Sugar Film - to be released in the US in July.
